Do Nigerians need a visa for United Kingdom?

Yes. You must hold a Standard Visitor visa (tourism, family visits and business). Up to 6 months per visit. before you fly. Without it you are refused at check-in in Lagos or Abuja, not at the border.

Do Nigerians need a transit visa for United Kingdom?

  • Any onward route

    Transiting the UK requires a visa. If you stay airside you need a Direct Airside Transit Visa (GBP 41.50). If you pass through border control you need a Visitor in Transit visa (GBP 74.50). You must show evidence of a residence permit, green card or valid visa for your onward country.

    Nigerian nationals can transit airside through London Heathrow or Manchester on the same calendar day holding a valid visa issued by Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the USA — or such a visa if arriving from the issuing country within 6 months of entering it on that visa.

    When it applies: Same-day airside transit at LHR or MAN with a qualifying third-country visa

    If ignored: Without a qualifying document, a transit visa is required.
